All Inspections

27 September 2013

During a routine inspection

We found people were well informed about their intended care and treatment and well supported throughout their surgery including pre-assessment, discharge and after discharge. We also found people's care was logically planned and people were positive about the efficient way in which their care and treatment was managed.

We found the provider had effective processes in place for reducing the risks of cross infection. We found the environment of the hospital was visibly clean and staff had received the necessary training in order to follow and initiate best practice. We found the staff recruitment processes met the necessary standards and the pre-employment checks ensured people were of good character and fit to work with the provider.

In addition, we found there were appropriate systems in place for monitoring and assessing the quality of services including capturing the views of people who used the service.

We spoke with three people who used the services and one person said they were fully informed about their procedure and the service was 'seamless.' Another person described how they always chose the centre for their surgery and how staff were 'friendly and professional.' The third person we spoke with said the service was 'brilliant' and 'it couldn't be faulted'.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people during the inspection who were awaiting their procedure. One person said "it was a stress free process" and the second person said "they were fully informed about their procedure". We found people were treated in a caring way and fully supported throughout their contact with the treatment centre; from pre-assessment to post-discharge. We also found processes were in place to protect people from abuse and also for people to complain about any concerns they had. Staff were supported in their roles and had the necessary knowledge and experience to perform their role as necessary. People were appropriately informed about their intended procedure/surgery to be able to consent in an informed way but there were inconsistencies with some consent forms and gaining two signatures from people to signify their consent as recommended in the provider's consent policy.
