Updated 9 April 2026
Date of assessment: 27 April to 07 May 2026. Andrews Court Care Home is a care home providing accommodation for people who require support with personal care. The home can provide support for up to 37 older people or younger adults, including those living with dementia or a physical disability. At the time of this assessment, 35 people were living at the care home.
We assessed all quality statements from the key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. The provider had made improvements and is no longer in breach of regulations. Regular health and safety checks were now conducted, and robust fire safety measures were in place to keep people safe. Staff were now recruited safely and well trained. The care home was clean and now had systems to maintain good infection, prevention, and control (IPC). Medicines were now managed safely, and people were consulted and could self-administer if they wished.
The staff were kind and caring, and treated people like individuals. People were supported to be as independent as possible and have control over their lives. Regular activities took place and people had the option to participate or not. Staff knew people well and could recognise when people were in pain or distress and responded to clinical deterioration in a timely manner.
People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and to support smooth transitions when moving between services. They monitored people’s health and consulted with health professionals to support healthy living.
There were enough staff, suitably recruited with the right skills, qualifications, and experience for their roles. They made sure people had choices about their care to enable them to give informed consent. Management involved appropriate specialists to help make important decisions that were in people’s best interests. Governance and oversight was good, and continuous improvement was prioritised.
The culture at Andrews Court Care Home was positive, person-centred and promoted people’s dignity. Management were experienced, had the right skills and when required worked alongside staff. Reasonable adjustments were in place for staff who required them, which had helped promote staff continuity and teamwork and boosted morale.
