During an assessment under our new approach
We carried out this assessment between 8 and 20 October 2026. This was the first assessment of 19 Leicester Villas under the current provider. We carried out a full comprehensive assessment following information of concern received about the service. At the time of our assessment, 3 people were receiving the regulated activity of personal care. The service is a care home supporting autistic people and people with a learning disability. We assessed the service in line with CQC’s ‘Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture’ best practice guidance to judge whether people received respectful, dignified and person-centred care that promoted independence, choice and inclusion in the community. Overall, the provider was working in line with this guidance. We checked whether the service worked within the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and how Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards were managed. Staff and management worked within the Act and restrictions were reviewed to ensure they remained necessary and proportionate. People received personalised support from staff who knew them well and understood their communication, health and support needs. People were supported to make choices, develop everyday skills, maintain relationships and access their local community. Relatives and health and social care professionals were positive about people's care. We identified some shortfalls. We identified shortfalls in falls risk assessment, medicines management and arrangements for seeking and using people’s feedback. We did not identify harm arising from these shortfalls, although staffing pressures had limited some opportunities for people to access their community. The registered manager responded positively to feedback and made improvements during the assessment. Governance arrangements were strengthened, although some systems were new and their sustained effectiveness had not yet been demonstrated.
