Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support and treatment when required.

At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 18 staff, of which there were 4 dentists, 6 qualified dental nurses, 2 trainee dental nurses, 2 dental therapists, 2 receptionists and the practice manager. 8 July 2013

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection as part of our schedule of inspections to check on the care and welfare of people who used this service. The inspection was announced, which meant that the provider and the staff knew we were visiting. On the day of our inspection we spoke with seven people, five staff and looked at 10 treatment records. People who received treatment at the dental practice told us they were very happy with the care that they received. One person told us, 'I feel really comfortable with this practice'. Another person told us, 'The staff are very pleasant. I wouldn't change a thing here'.

People told us that they were always treated with dignity and respect. Throughout our inspection we observed that people were communicated with in a professional and friendly manner. The practice was clean and tidy and there were systems in place to protect people from the risks of infection. We observed that people experienced care and treatment that met their needs because they were cared for by staff that had the appropriate knowledge and skills. We observed that the provider regularly assessed and monitored the quality of service that people received.
