Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 15 April 2026

We carried out an unannounced inspection of this service on 22 April 2026. Treetops Court Care Home is a care home providing nursing and personal care to up to 70 people. The service provided support to people aged 65 and over, including those living with dementia, mental health needs and physical disabilities. At the time of the inspection, 60 people were using the service.

This inspection was carried out to follow up on concerns identified at the previous inspection, where the provider was in breach of regulation relating to good governance. At this inspection, improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach.

This report only covers our findings in relation to the key questions safe, caring and well-led.

There was a positive culture of safety within the service, with staff demonstrating a good understanding of safeguarding and reporting concerns appropriately. Systems were in place to monitor risks, learn from incidents and ensure people were supported safely while maintaining their independence. The environment was clean, well maintained, and effective systems were in place for infection control and medicines management. People and relatives told us they felt safe. There were sufficient numbers of staff on duty at the time of inspection to meet people’s needs safely, although some staff raised concerns about staffing levels. The provider had systems in place to review staffing levels and had taken steps to provide staff with support and opportunities to raise concerns.

People received care that was assessed, planned and reviewed regularly to ensure it remained effective and responsive to their changing needs. Staff worked in partnership with people, relatives and healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care and support positive health outcomes. For example, the service had supported one person to transition from the home into supported living. This demonstrated effective partnership working and a planned approach to meeting people’s changing needs.

People’s needs, including nutrition, hydration and wellbeing, were monitored, and staff applied the principles of the Mental Capacity Act to support decision-making. However, people’s wider wellbeing needs, including opportunities for meaningful engagement, were not always consistently met.

The management had a positive vision and values, and governance systems were effective in monitoring quality, identifying learning and improving care. Feedback from staff was mixed, with some expressing concerns about communication and staffing. Further work was needed to ensure a fully open, supportive and inclusive culture across the service.

People's experience of the service

Updated 15 April 2026

People told us they felt safe living at the home and were supported by staff who were kind, responsive and knew them well. Relatives expressed confidence in the care provided and told us people’s needs were understood and met, even where they were complex or changing. One person told us, “I have been here [how many years] you wouldn't get me to go anywhere else; I looked at lots of homes before now, but this was the best one and I am so happy I came here.” A relative told us, “It’s really good, [Person] is happy, all the family are happy.”

People were involved in decisions about their care and risks. They and their relatives told us they were included in care planning and felt able to share their views. People were supported to make choices about their daily lives, including taking positive risks, with staff putting appropriate safeguards in place to help them remain safe while maintaining their independence and quality of life. One person told us, “I couldn't ask for better staff, they know me well. They respect my wishes so for example, I don't want to be disturbed in the night so staff respect that and don't bother me. I get up when I want and go to bed when I want. Staff are always on hand though, so I feel safe.” One relative told us, “We have the resident of the day which seems to be fairly frequent when they call us to discuss [person].”

The service held regular residents’ meetings where people could talk about what mattered to them, such as food, activities and any concerns. One person told us, “We always have meetings as residents though and we can tell them [staff] what we like and what we don't like, and they always listen. If there is something we want to try or put on the menu they will do it.”

People told us the home was clean and free from unpleasant odours. One person told us, “My room is great, it has got all my things in there, and it is very clean and tidy just to way I like it.” One relative told us “[Person] bedroom is fine and it is clean and tidy every time I go in.”

Medicines were manged safely. One relative told us, “[Person] is safe here, I’ve no worries about [person], they [staff] are really good with their medicines.

People and relative felt staff were responsive. One person told us, “I press the buzzer and they are there in a heartbeat. They always know what I need and if they don't, I tell them and they do it, they do not hesitate.”

People told us their care and support met their needs and reflected their preferences. They and their relatives were involved in care planning reviews and relatives meeting, one person told us, “Staff know me well and what I like and don’t like.”

People were supported to maintain their independence and make choices about their care, including decisions about their daily lives, food and routines. One person told us “I consider myself to be very lucky. I could not wish for more.”

People told us they were happy with the food and felt their dietary needs and preferences were met. One person told us, “I love the food and there is always a choice.”

People and relatives consistently described the service as well-led, with a visible and approachable staff team. They told us they felt supported and confident that any concerns would be listened to and acted upon.
Overall, people felt safe and experienced a service that was person-centred and committed to improvement, although further work was needed to ensure a fully open and inclusive culture for all staff.
