Clifton View is a ‘care home’ providing personal care and support to older people and people living with dementia. Clifton View is a purpose built care home, set over three floors. The first floor of the service hosts short stay reablement beds, commissioned to be provided in conjunction with a local NHS healthcare provider. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 67 people with their personal care needs. The service has a Registered Manager in post.
Clifton View Care Home was last rated requires improvement (published 18 December 2024). We found breaches of regulations related to safe care and treatment, staffing and governance at our previous inspection. Improvements had been made at this inspection, and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations.
The providers had promoted the former deputy manager to the Registered Manager role since our last assessment. The Registered Manager showed strong leadership qualities and had ensured the required improvements from our last visit had been embedded. Safety risks for people were managed robustly. The provider had reviewed their staffing and deployment and ensured there were sufficient staff to meet people’s needs. People were supported by skilled, kind and knowledgeable staff. Staff understood people’s needs well and respected their wishes and feelings. People were protected from harm by a staff team who understood the importance of upholding robust safeguarding practices. The service had been refurbished, with an updated call bell system in place. The newly Registered Manager had developed a positive culture amongst the staff team, who felt able to speak up and feel heard.
