Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 1 July 2026

Date of assessment: 1 July 2026 to 6 July 2026. Woodville house is a residential home providing accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care. Woodville house was last inspected in October 2020 under a previous provider where it was rated Good. At this assessment, the overall rating has remained the same.

Woodville House is registered to provide care for up to 16 people. At the time of our assessment there were 15 people living in the home. A registered manager was in post but told us they were leaving. The provider told us of their plans to employ a new manager.

Processes were in place to help keep people safe and protect them from harm. People’s needs were assessed before they started to use the service and care plans and risk assessments developed were person centred to enable staff to manage risks and provide individual care that met people’s needs. Staff knew people well and where appropriate, staff considered decisions in people’s best interests to support their needs. People and their relatives were positive about the staff and the support provided.

People told us they had access to staff when they needed them. However, there was not always a senior member of staff available to support staff and ensure the effective running of the home.

Whilst the home was generally clean, some of the surfaces were paint chipped making them difficult to clean in order to maintain good infection, prevention and control practice. The provider told us of their plans to refurbish some areas. Staff told us they had access to the training they needed and supported one another to ensure people received the care they required.

We found there were areas of governance that required improvement. Audits to check the safety and quality of the care and services provided had not consistently been maintained to make sure management staff had a good overview of the service. The providers policies and procedures were still being developed and embedded to support staff in meeting the providers expectations when completing their role. Staff told us communication from the providers regarding management of the home was not always clear. The provider told us they were committed to making the necessary improvements to the service and working with staff.
