During an inspection in response to concerns

We carried out an unannounced inspection on 18 June 2012 in response to concerns raised about staffing levels, especially at night. We arrived at the home at 4.45am and toured the building with one of the registered nurses. There was no rush during this tour. We saw staff talking with some people who, we were told, never went to bed. We observed the home to be relaxed and appropriately managed. The home consisted of three floors. The lower floor was dedicated to provide residential care; the ground floor provided nursing care for people with a dementia and a first floor provided palliative care. On the day of our visit there were 65 people living at Hartley Park Care Home and one person was in hospital.
