The service provided personal care and support to older adults with a mental health conditions and substance misuse problems. At the time of this assessment 3 people were using the service This is the first assessment for this registered service. At this assessment the provider has been rated requires improvement.
The provider did not always have a proactive and positive culture of safety. Lessons were not always learnt to continually identify and embed good practice. The provider did not always work well with people and healthcare partners to establish and maintain safe systems of care. The provider did not ensure staff were adequately trained, supported, or developed to maintain the necessary skills, qualifications, and experience for their roles. The provider did not ensure that medicines were managed safely. People did not receive consistent support from staff to manage risks associated with their health and wellbeing. The provider’s governance systems for auditing the service were not effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement to ensure that people were not placed at risk of receiving unsafe and inappropriate care.
However, the provider cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff. Staff told us they felt valued and were treated in a way that supported their wellbeing. The provider made sure that people could access the care and support they needed when they needed it. Reasonable adjustments were made to ensure equal access to the service for all.
