This service scored 71 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Assessing needs
The provider did not always make sure people’s care and treatment were effective because they did not always check and discuss people’s health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them.
We look at people’s care plans to understand their health, wellbeing, communication and daily support needs. The care plans showed good information, and they included notes about family members who help or support the person. Some parts of the care plans had not been updated as often as the provider’s policy stated. For example, one plan still said a person needed support with activities in residential care, even though this was no longer correct. People’s needs had not changed, but the paperwork had not been updated on time.
There were systems in place to review care plans, and staff added updates when needed. However, not every section had been reviewed by the required date by the management. Care staff kept clear daily notes on the electronic recording system to evidence how people were doing. When staff noticed a change in someone’s health or wellbeing, they took action and reported this to the registered manager or other professionals.
