Updated 20 February 2026
Date of assessment: 25 February to 20 March 2026. Hyde Lea is a residential care home registered to support up to 19 older adults. At the time of our assessment there were 18 people living in the home, many of whom had a diagnosis of dementia. This was a targeted assessment, focusing on safety and risk management due to concerns about how the risk of falls was being managed at the care home.
Our assessment included 2 unannounced onsite visits during which we noted improvements. Further evidence and information were gathered remotely following the visits.
There were enough staff with the right skills and experience, however they did not receive regular one to ones, supervisions or team meetings.
Our assessment also identified shortfalls in logging and reviewing safety incidents and risk management.
A new home manager was employed during our assessment. We spoke to them about our findings and they have put the necessary systems and processes in place. Care plans and risk assessments are being improved and people at high risk of falls have been reviewed and the necessary support and equipment put in place. Team meetings have been scheduled and the necessary support for staff has been implemented.
