Our view of the service

We carried out this assessment following information of concern around staffing issues and poor performance. We inspected 10 quality statements across the safe, caring and well-led key questions and have combined the scores for these areas with scores from the last inspection to give the rating. There was a good safety culture where events were investigated, and learning was embedded to promote good practice. The service had enough staff to care for patients and keep them safe. Staff had training in key skills, understood how to protect patients from abuse, and managed safety well. The service controlled infection risk well. Staff assessed risks to patients, acted on them and kept good care records. The service managed safety incidents well and learned lessons from them. Staff collected safety information and used it to improve the service.

People's experience of this service

Patients said staff treated them well and with kindness. Staff followed organisational policy to keep patients when in their care. Staff understood and respected the individual needs of each patient and showed understanding and a non-judgemental attitude when caring for them. Staff understood and respected the personal, cultural, social and religious needs of patients. Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, and took account of their individual needs.
