Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

People were treated with kindness, empathy and compassion and staff respected their privacy and dignity. People and relatives told us staff were caring and kind. One person told us, “The staff are smashing they will do anything for you. If I need anything they are there.” A relative said, “The staff are really good, kind, friendly and do anything you ask.” During our visit we saw numerous examples of staff having friendly and caring interactions with people. For example, we observed staff checking on one person who liked to stay in their room and talking with them about what was happening during the day so that they felt involved.

One person told us, “They are quick on the ball, just ring the bell and they come to you.” Another person said, “The staff have time to talk to me.”

Workforce wellbeing and enablement

Score: 2

Staff felt the provider did not always care about and promote their wellbeing. They did not always support or enable staff to deliver person-centred care. Staff told us they did not always feel engaged in a meaningful way on the ongoing changes at the service. One member of staff said, “We can give feedback easy, but I sometimes think it's not listened to.” The provider said they would review how they engaged with staff to ensure this promoted workforce wellbeing, and sent us feedback questionnaires from some staff with positive comments.
