We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 23 February 2026.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The practice is in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice was located on the first floor of a shared building and did not provide step-free access. The practice was not accessible to those people who used a wheelchair. Car parking spaces were available and time limited street parking was available at the front of the practice.
The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 16 staff, of which there were 4 dentists (including 1 foundation dentist), 6 dental nurses (including 2 trainee dental nurses), 3 dental therapists, 2 receptionists and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 1 dental therapist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.
The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 22 patients. On the day of our inspection, we received further patient feedback from 4 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included, “Excellent service, care, time, explanation and options provided when attending with [relative] to manage teeth extractions and periodontitis, all the dentists involved in his care were excellent and he mentioned it to be the place he felt most comfortable with the care, kindness and consideration he has receiving during his dental treatments,” and “Good professional service and a friendly team.”
Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. We were told, “Always a professional but friendly service. Clean and tidy practice. Reception is helpful with bookings and questions, wouldn’t want to go anywhere else!”
Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Patients told us, “Very thorough check-up and useful advice by dentist,” and “Such a friendly, knowledgeable team.
I had a facial swelling was seen the same day. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. 5* highly recommend.”
Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.
Patients said when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources. One patient told us “Walmley Dental Practice has been excellent for my dental health. They identified my gum disease early on which my previous dentist had failed to do for years, even though the signs were there. They are well organised, waiting times are minimal and the staff are all very friendly. Can’t recommend highly enough.”
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
