We visited Sleaford Manor on 7 and 8 April 2026. The service is registered to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 70 people. There were 58 people living at the service at the time of our visit.
The inspection was prompted in part by notification of an incident following which a person using the service died. This incident is subject to further investigation by CQC as to whether any regulatory action should be taken. As a result, this inspection did not examine the circumstances of the incident.
However, the information shared with CQC about the incident indicated potential concerns about the management of risk. This inspection examined those risks.
People told us they felt safe and were supported by staff who understood their needs. Safeguarding systems were effective, and concerns were appropriately identified, reported and responded to in an open and transparent way.
Risks were well managed, and people experienced positive outcomes, such as improved mobility and reduced falls.
Care was planned and delivered in a person-centred way, with people involved in decisions about their care. Staff worked collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and consistent support, taking prompt action when people’s needs changed.
People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect by a caring staff team. Staff knew people well and supported them to maintain their independence, choice and control.
The provider was responsive to people’s needs, with staff adapting their approach and ensuring people had access to the care and support they required. People felt able to share feedback, and this was used to improve the quality of care. While most aspects of care were responsive, staff told us recent changes had impacted morale, although leaders had taken steps to provide support.
Leadership was effective, with a visible and knowledgeable registered manager and established governance systems to monitor quality and drive improvement. There was a positive culture of openness and learning, with strong partnership working and a focus on improving outcomes for people.
