During a routine inspection

We spoke with people attending the centre for an appointment who told us: 'Everything is confidential the staff are very good, professional.' 'I am happy anything I say remains confidential.' "They are very trustworthy." "Brilliant seen quickly non-judgemental advice." "I would definitely come here again."

We saw treatment records were held electronically. People's treatment records were well maintained and updated after each visit. This provided a clear and detailed record of any treatment and support the person had received.

There were policies and procedures in place relating to infection prevention and control. Policies were reviewed annually or more frequently if there were changes to legislation.

We looked at a sample of records and saw audits of systems such as; infection prevention and control, contraceptive implants, safeguarding referrals and clinical notes had been carried out. This demonstrated the manager and staff team regularly looked at their practice and where areas for improvement were identified changes were made.

During our visit we found that the centre was extremely popular with young people in the area who felt that they could come to the centre at any time and were confident of getting the advice or guidance that they required.

We found that people's information was kept confidential at all times and that the staff at the centre acted in the best interests of young people wherever possible. People told us that they found the service extremely confidential and that this was one of the best things they had found each time they came to the centre.

The service had an appropriate complaints policy in place which captured any action that had been taken in relation to specific complaints and what the outcome had been. Although there had not been any formal complaints made against the service we saw how day to day 'issues' had been responded to.

The centre recognises that this service is for the under 25s and welcomes

the involvement and the views of people that use the centre. Quality assurance systems in

place have a strong emphasis on the young people using the service becoming involved,

and the service actively promotes feedback. The center provides free confidential advice on family planning, and screening for sexually transmitted diseases.

A young person attending the centre told us that this centre was popular with young

people from the surrounding community as a family planning advice centre. She said

" People appreciate that it is a friendly environment where confidentiality is maintained''.
