Our view of the service
We carried out a comprehensive assessment of patient transport services (PTS) at UK Emergency Medical Transport Ambulance Service Limited, which included an unannounced inspection site visit on 6 and 11 May 2026.
UK Emergency Medical Transport Ambulance Service Limited is an independent ambulance service based in Knutsford who provide private patient transportation services. This was the first assessment for this service since registering with CQC 26 February 2026.
The service has provided 198 transfers since 26 February 2026, 195 of which were secure mental health transfers for NHS and private patients (children and adults).
At this assessment, our rating of the service was good.
We looked at 4 patient records, spoke with 6 staff and received feedback from stakeholders. We found the registered manager was approachable and staff felt supported and included in decisions regarding service delivery.
People's experience of this service
We did not seek direct individual patient experience for secure mental health transfers as patients were undergoing treatment. We requested stakeholder feedback about patients' experience. Stakeholders told us patients were at the centre of the ambulance service. Stakeholders said staff were mindful of individual privacy, dignity and emotional needs taking care to communicate in a calm, reassuring manner and adapt their approach to reduce anxiety.
