During a routine inspection
We saw patients gave consent to treatment prior to treatment being carried out. Where patients did not have capacity to make decisions themselves, we saw the practice worked within the framework of the Mental Capacity Act.
Prior to our visit, we spoke with six patients. They told us,
"It’s a good quality service.”
“Stoke Aldermoor are absolutely brilliant…the kids love him (the dentist) to bits.”
“It’s the best dentist I’ve ever been to …he’s got a lot of patience.”
“The dental nurses and receptionist are friendly….it’s a nice atmosphere.”
We looked at cleanliness and infection control. All patients we spoke with told us the practice and equipment was always clean. We looked at infection control measures and were assured the practice was meeting the required standards.
We looked at staff recruitment procedures. We saw staff recruited had undergone necessary safety checks and were professionally trained to carry out their roles.
We looked at the systems the practice has for ensuring quality and safety. We saw systems in place to monitor and where necessary, improve practice.
