During a routine inspection

Information about the services provided was available via the practice's website. Two people told us that staff gave them adequate information about their treatment and costs. One person described the staff's attitude as "accommodating and transparent".

Investigations, including X-rays if appropriate, were carried out and treatment options were discussed following diagnoses. Written copies of treatment plans were routinely given to people and follow up appointments were made as appropriate. People told us that they were "satisfied" with the quality of the care they received.

The environment was clean and tidy on the day of the inspection and people told us that the practice was always clean. Instruments were appropriately decontaminated and stored safely.

The dentist had undertaken mandatory training including infection control and basic life support. She supervised the work of the dental nurse and carried out informal training sessions. The dental nurse was not registered with the General Dental Council or enrolled on a course that would lead to registration. This situation has been addressed since our visit.

Analysis of the latest satisfaction survey in January 2013, found that all six respondents were satisfied with the service they received. Clinical audits were carried out, for example on clinical records and X-rays. There was a complaints policy and systems in place for handling complaints appropriately.
