Our view of the service

MYM Tamworth is operated by Professional Antenatal Services Limited who have multiple locations across the Midlands providing baby scanning services. MYM Tamworth was registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on 6 August 2025 and is registered to carry out diagnostic and screening procedures for adults. The service provides ultrasound scans in pregnancy for the purpose of bonding and reassurance rather than for clinical purposes or as part of a pregnancy pathway of care. The service was limited to non-diagnostic scans and did not offer growth or diagnostic scans. The main scans completed were early assurance scans, non-invasive prenatal (NIPT) blood tests, sex confirmation scans and 4D bonding scans. From June 2025 to June 2026, the service carried out 4,465 scans, averaging 372 a month.

We carried out a short notice announced risk-based assessment of the diagnostic imaging service on 30 June 2026 as the service had not been previously inspected. The service had a registered manager who did not have an active role in the management of the service; however, a new registered manager was in the process of working through the relevant Care Quality Commission application process.

As part of the assessment, we observed baby ultrasound scans being carried out and reviewed records and images. We reviewed service policies, procedures and operating procedures. This included baby scanning imaging protocols and operational policies. We spoke to 6 staff members including the registered manager, sonographers, and administrative staff. We spoke with 5 women who had recently received a service.

During the inspection we sound some operational policies, procedures and guidance did not provide staff with clear instruction and were not all in line with legislation and most up to date guidance.

The main service provided by this location was Diagnostic Imaging (non-diagnostic pregnancy ultrasound).
