Date of the assessment: 29 January 2026 and 4 February 2026. Harrogate Lodge is a care home that can support up to 50 people. The service provides personal care to people living with a dementia and has an intermediate care service for people requiring support with rehabilitation. At the time of our assessment the service was supporting 44 people. This was an unannounced assessment as the service was newly registered with CQC and unrated.
The service had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Managers listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events. The service worked with people and healthcare partners to establish and maintain safe systems of care, in which safety was managed or monitored. The service assessed and managed the risk of infection. The service made sure that medicines and treatments were safe and met people’s needs. The service supported people to manage their health and wellbeing to maximise their independence, choice and control. Staff treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Management had clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. The management team focused on continuous learning, innovation and improvement across the organisation and local system. They encouraged creative ways of delivering equality of experience, outcome and quality of life for people.
