During a routine inspection

People were able to make decisions about their day to day experiences. Where people lacked capacity, best interest decisions had been made on their behalf.

People received appropriate care based on their individual needs. A member of staff said, 'You get to understand little looks or gestures which help you understand people'.

The provider cooperated with other services and the wider health community to improve people's quality of life.

2 Dragon Square presented a clean and tidy environment for people to live. Staff had been trained and understood how to prevent and control infection.

Sufficient suitably qualified and skilled staff were available to meet people's needs. Risk assessments and planning had been completed to cover emergency or unforeseen eventualities.

There were systems in place to enable complaints to be recorded, analysed and responded to. People who could not complain were supported by staff who knew how to protect their rights.

During a routine inspection

We saw people were treated with respect and dignity. A member of staff said, 'We just work here but it's their home, we are just here to help people manage'.

People living at the home told us they were happy there. One person told us, 'I like my room'. We saw that people were encouraged to do things for themselves and supported where they needed to be.

There were appropriate arrangements for the obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medicines. This meant people were protected against the unsafe use and management of medicines.

Staff were supported to deliver care and treatment safely. A member of staff said, 'I know I can ask if I'm ever unsure of anything.'

People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained and reviewed.
