Date of assessment: 10 September to 2 October 2025. New Beginnings North East Ltd is a supported living and homecare service; at the time of the inspection the service was only providing supported living. The service provides care and support to people living in supported living settings so that they can live as independently as possible. People's care and housing are provided under separate contractual agreements. CQC does not regulate premises used for supported living; this inspection looked at people's personal care and support. At the time of the inspection, 64 people were supported across the community.
This assessment was carried out to follow up on concerns regarding unsafe recruitment practises. We established the provider conducted appropriate recruitment checks and additional improvements were made to the documentation during the inspection.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the service was meeting the principles of Right support, right care, right culture.
The provider had systems to ensure people were protected from the risk of abuse and harm. Staff had completed safeguarding training.
Caring and well-trained staff supported people. Staff supported people to maintain important relationships and access meaningful activities. Staff encouraged people to take part in new interests and experiences, working with people to achieve set goals in a safe way.
The service worked with health and social care professionals to maintain people’s care and support. Professionals spoke positively about their working relationships. A professional told us, “I collaborate with many different agencies of varying quality, and I would honestly say, New Beginnings is one of the best I personally deal with.”
The provider monitored the quality and safety of the service. The service had two registered managers and a structured management team with defined roles and responsibilities. People, relatives and staff were regularly asked for feedback.
