During a routine inspection

Information about the practice was available from its website including the services available and the costs of treatments. A 'Patients Guide' was available at the reception desk that included further information about the services offered. Two people told us that staff gave them adequate information about their treatment and costs.

Dental examinations were carried out and X-rays were performed if appropriate. People were given written copies of their treatment plans if they requested it. One person who used the service told us that they were "impressed" with the care that they had received.

The environment was clean and tidy on the day of the inspection and people who use the service told us that practice was always clean. Instruments were appropriately decontaminated before re-use and stored safely.

Staff had undertaken training in basic life support and infection control. Dental nurses worked under the supervision of dentists.

The latest analysis of the satisfaction survey in July 2012 found that most respondents were satisfied with their treatment. Quarterly record keeping audits were carried out and equipment was appropriately maintained.

Staff recorded people's care and treatment in their personal records. These were clear, concise and legible. Records were kept securely and could be located promptly when needed.
