During a routine inspection

During our visit we were able to speak with four people who used this service. They all told us they felt they were treated with dignity and respect and were fully involved in all areas of their respective treatment plans.

We found that care plans and assessment of risk to people who use the service were regularly reviewed. Staff demonstrated the knowledge and skills needed to protect people from abuse.

We found that staff received a comprehensive induction and were checked appropriately before being employed to work in this client area. There was a comprehensive training programme ensuring that staff had the skills and knowledge to work with people who used this service in a safe effective manner.

The provider had a system in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.

People who use the service understood the care and treatment choices available to them. We spoke to a group of seven people who use the service.

They were all positive about the service and the effect it was having on their lives. Comments from people included, 'this place has saved our lives', 'I have never been to another service like it ' it is so good', and 'I was only ever going to have one shot at this and I definitely chose the right place'.

People told us that staff worked closely with them to help them move towards stopping their alcohol and drug use. They said that staff 'really understood what (they) were going through' and couldn't do enough to help them. They said the groups and individual support were helping them visualise and create a new life without alcohol and drug use.
