Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 12 patients. On the day of our inspection, we received feedback from a further 20 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included, “Excellent dentist. Very caring, pays attention to detail. Welcoming atmosphere. Recommend to everyone I know.” Also “The care given at The Riley Dental Studio is impeccable from the initial phone call you make, the personable experience when you enter and the fantastic care you get from the admin team, nursing care and experienced dentists - including the visiting consultant.”
Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
We were told, “[Dentist] is a wonderful dentist who puts my daughter at ease from the moment she arrives. His attention to detail is outstanding, and the facilities are modern, immaculate, and spotlessly clean.”
Also, “The surgery is super modern and exceptionally clean so I feel safe in the knowledge that I’m getting the very best standard of service.”
Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.
Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.
We were told, “They are able to tell you diagnosis, issues, positives using clear medical language in a way that isn’t confusing for a patient who has no medical background, but in a way that isn’t patronising. They include you in your care at all points, working with you rather than dictating what needs to happen so you feel involved in your own care at all times and they also have several options so that you make a clear and informed decision.”
Patients said when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
