4Life Care Chesterfield Limited is a home care service providing support to older people and younger adults, people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only assess where people receive personal care. Personal care is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of our assessment, there were 15 people using the service, with 13 people receiving the regulated activity of personal care. This was a focused assessment, looking at where we found areas of concern at the last assessment. The service had made improvements and is no longer in breach of regulations. Care plans had been improved, contained important information and were now person centred.
Staff gave positive feedback on the service and leadership support.
Care plans were person centred and contained information important to people using the service. However, feedback showed that these were not always followed due to staff on shift not being able to accommodate gender preferences.
Consistency of staff and care call times varied and was noted to be an issue by people using the service.
Systems and processes were in place to carry out audits and implement lessons learnt where needed. Robust meeting minutes were in place which showed that the lessons learnt and actions had been shared with staff to ensure that the changes were implemented.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to person centred care, safe care and treatment and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation.
