Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 18 March 2026

Date of assessment: 24 March 2026 to 10 April 2026. Neways at Home is a care at home service providing personal care and support to adults of all ages, some of whom were living with dementia and physical disabilities. Not everyone using the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. At the time of this assessment 42 people were receiving support from the provider, 27 of whom received regulated activities. We assessed the service because they were not yet rated and we reviewed all key questions and quality statements. The outcome of this assessment was a rating of good for the service.

The service provided safe and effective care based on thorough assessments, care plans and reviews. Staff were regularly trained and were supported through 1-1 supervision from the management team. Medicines were safely managed and the provider went the extra mile and followed up on concerns with medicines supply. Risks were assessed and mitigated however people were supported to take positive risks to ensure they had fulfilling lives.

The provider worked well with community partners such as health and social care organisations. They shared information with permission and ensured people experienced smooth transitions to other service providers such as residential care settings or healthcare services.

The provider had not always followed the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). In some care records, MCA assessments had not been completed and copies of powers of attorney had not been taken, however, staff checked for consent before delivering care and support minimising the impact of this.

We only received positive feedback about staff and how caring the service was. Services constantly adapted to meet changing needs.

There was an exceptionally positive approach to staff wellbeing that included regular 1-to-1 supervision with senior staff, paying travel time and mileage, planning routes to ensure work was equally shared between staff and if possible, did not have too much travel to and from locations.

Care was person-centred and was devised with people and their relatives. As far as possible, the provider worked alongside healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless service. Feedback was sought from people regularly and should there be any shortfalls noted, actions were taken to immediately improve.

The service had a registered manager who was well respected by staff and people. They were approachable and did not hesitate to support staff working directly with people. Staff were happy to raise concerns with managers and there was an open door approach in the office for people and staff.

There were extremely good community links. A community liaison officer was continually linking with local health and social care organisations and community groups to identify shortfalls and develop new services such as a recently trialled day service opportunity.

People's experience of the service

Updated 18 March 2026

We spoke with 10 people or relatives of people receiving regulated activities from the service. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive and all would not hesitate to recommend the service.

People told us they felt safe and were cared for by staff who were well trained and good at their jobs. They told us the management team were approachable and would approach them should they need to raise concerns or need support.

People and their relatives told us they were always asked to consent before staff commenced providing care to them. They also told us they had contributed to their care plans and were involved in care reviews.

We received different views of whether people had regular carers, one family had the same 4 care staff whereas another said they had various different staff, both were happy with this arrangement due to the quality of staff supporting them.

People and relatives completed an annual survey. The results of the last one were all positive.
