During a routine inspection

We were able to speak with five people who used the service and six relatives. Overall people were very satisfied with the service received. People told us that where they had raised concerns the service had responded quickly. We spoke with the five people about the care they received. One person told us, 'The staff are very kind, I have a lovely girl who comes to my calls.'

Another person told us, 'They are so polite and nice, they take me out too which I like.'

Another told us, 'I am happy with the care I get I have no concerns, they always go through things with me and if I want something changed, they change it.'

We spoke with six relatives about the service received. One relative told us, 'There was a slip up once, but the service apologised and it has not happened again, I would use the service again I think they do well.'

Another relative to us, 'I check what goes on sometimes after they have been in, I have never had any reason to be worried about the care it has always been good.'

We found that medication was accurately recorded in a person's records. This meant that people were protected from the risk of administering or managing medication unsafely. We found that the service had suitable recruitment processes in place. We also found that the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who used the service. People told us that they were happy with the service provided. One person told us, 'They are really wonderful; nothing is too much for them.' All five people we spoke to were positive about the care they received.

We saw that consent to care was documented in the daily records and on medication forms. However the service did not have an overall consent to care policy. Therefore we were not clear on what the service procedure for taking consent for treatment was.

We found that staffing was well managed within the service. This meant that care was provided for people when booked. People who used the service told us the staff were kind and caring. People told us staff usually arrived on time for the booked appointment.

We found that staff were knowledgeable regarding each person who used the service. The records were person centred and were specific to meet people's needs.

We found that medication was not always accurately recorded in a person's records. This meant that people were not fully protected from the risk of administering or managing medication unsafely.

People felt that although they needed some help in their daily lives that carers supported their individuality and encouraged their independence.
