Our view of the service
Date of assessment: assessment activity started on 12 May 2025 and concluded on 12 June 2025. We visited the service on 20 and 21 May 2025. The service is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 42 people within one large, adapted building. It focuses on nursing and complex nursing care. At the time of our visit 25 people were using the service. This assessment was carried out in response to concerns we had received about the service in relation to cleanliness and hygiene, staffing levels and lack of management support. We visited the service on the 20 and 21 May 2025. Following our last assessment the provider was in breach of the legal regulation in relation to record keeping and sharing of information, and previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to person centred care from our comprehensive inspection in 2019. Improvements were found and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. The service has received an overall rating of ‘Good.’
People received person centred, kind, compassionate care by staff who were recruited safely and provided with the relevant training to enable them to carry out their roles effectively. Staff had received training in safeguarding and knew how to identify and report concerns. People received their prescribed medicines when they needed them. People were protected from the risk of infections as staff followed good hygiene. The environment was clean and well-maintained. Staff made appropriate use of personal protective equipment to protect people from the risk of infections. Accidents and incidents were reviewed to identify themes and the actions needed to prevent them from happening again. Lessons learnt were shared with the staff team.
There had been a change since our last assessment, a new manager, compliance and quality assurance manager and head of regulation and compliance had been appointed. Overall staff described the positive impact the new management team had on the culture of the home and in promoting positive outcomes for people. The management team regularly checked the quality and safety of people’s care and where any improvements were identified, plans were developed to address these. Feedback was sought from people, staff, relatives and visiting professionals to continuously learn and drive through any identified improvements.
