During a routine inspection

We spoke with four patients who used the service. They were all happy with the care and treatment they received and the way in which it was delivered. One patient told us, "This is a very good practice. My whole family comes here".

We saw before patients received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. We noted patients' verbal and written consent was obtained before care and treatment was undertaken. Patients' views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their treatment. Patients were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

The care and treatment we saw was safe and appropriate. Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure patients' safety and welfare. There were arrangements and equipment in place to deal with medical emergencies. We saw there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. We also found systems were in place for patients and relatives to make a complaint about the service if necessary. Complaints were managed in a timely and satisfactory manner.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to three people using the service who told us that they were very happy with the care provided and that they were involved in the discussions about the treatment that was to be provided.

As well as talking to Dr. McGregor we spoke to the practice manager, the hygienist, the senior dental nurse, a dental nurse, and a dental nurse/receptionist. All told us that they were happy working in the practice, that the team worked well together and that they had received the training and support they needed to meet individual people's dental care needs.
