Date of on-site assessment 5 June to 10 June 2026. We undertook 2 visits to the home and reviewed information the registered manager sent us electronically following our visits. Collington Park Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 66 people. Support is provided to people living with various support needs including Parkinson’s Disease, Diabetes and Dementia. At the time of inspection there were 37 people living at the home. This is the first CQC rating provided to this care home.
The home had an experienced registered manager in place who led a diverse care team, supporting them to safely deliver care. The registered manager ensured people had safe transitions and pathways of care when they move between services and liaised with other healthcare professionals to provide continuity of care and treatment. Comprehensive pre-assessment checks were carried out prior to admission ensuring people’s needs could be met. Care plans and risk assessments were in place and these were regularly reviewed and updated when required. The home was clean, equipment was maintained, and environmental risks were well managed. Medicines were stored safely and securely with suitable protocols being followed to ensure safe administration.
Infection control procedures were in place, and staff had access to relevant guidance. Staff recruitment processes were safe, and staff were provided with the training needed to safely support people and carry out their roles effectively.
People were encouraged to choose how they spent their time and had access to a wide range of activities that were on offer throughout the week. People’s nutrition and hydration needs were met, with a varied menu which accommodated people’s preferences and specialist dietary requirements. Staff assisted people with kindness and respect, considering their dignity and promoting their independence. Visitors were welcomed, and the home worked hard to establish links in the local community, promoting people to be socially independent. The home had a clear governance pathway that enabled effective monitoring of risks and clear communication to team members of any actions to take or changes within the daily routine. There was a positive and open culture that was encouraged by management, and people were supported to take risks and make informed choices and decisions. Feedback from people and staff was welcomed and comments analysed for areas where improvements could be made within the home. The registered manager had all required policies and guidance in place.
