During an inspection in response to concerns

We visited the practice because concerns had been raised anonymously about infection control standards. We did not speak to patients as part of this visit. The practice manager showed us around the building and we observed that the waiting room, office and reception areas were clean and tidy. We looked at one of the treatment rooms, which was visibly clean and well organised.

We found suitable arrangements were in place to ensure people were protected from the risk of infection. A range of policies and procedures on infection control were available, which provided clear guidance to staff. Equipment was well maintained and an effective quality assurance system, including cleaning checks was in place.

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with two patients who told us they were pleased with the care and treatment they received at the surgery. People told us the dental practice was always kept clean and the staff were helpful and polite at all times.

Patients said they did not have to wait long for appointments and if there was a delay then they would be advised of this when 'booking in' with the reception staff.

People told us they received dental examinations and any treatment they needed was fully explained and discussed with them by the staff. They told us their written consent was also sought prior to the commencement of their treatment.
