All Inspections

3 December 2013

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we spoke with two people who used the service by telephone. During our site visit we spoke with the team leader and six members of staff. We were told by people who had used the service that it was well led and responsive to their needs. We heard that the support provided was individualised to meet people's needs. One person told us "it was a very good experience I would recommend them to others.'

We saw that the service was effective because people were consulted and informed consent obtained before any treatment was provided. People told us 'it's been fairly good' and 'the change in my life has been fantastic.' People also talked about the importance of the continued support available to them. We were told 'I am accessing the aftercare service to help me organise what I want to do now.'

We were able to see that documentation maintained on behalf of people who used the service was stored safely with their consent. People confirmed to us they understood they could make a complaint but we heard 'I am happy with it, no complaints.' Staff told us people were supported to raise issues, we heard 'we encourage people to complete the feedback forms.'

During our visit we found people were provided with information and equipment that safeguarded them against the risk of infection.

We saw medicines were stored effectively with procedures in place which ensured people received their medicine in a safe way.

13 March 2013

During a routine inspection

We visited the Bridgwater office at Bridge House for Turning Point Somerset and spoke with three people who were happy to speak with us. They all told us they were very happy with the support they had received from Turning Point Somerset, Bridge House. One person told us 'Yeah great, they're brilliant'. Another person told us, 'They don't judge you here; they listen to what you have to say and help you get clean'.

We were told staff treated people who used the service with respect and dignity. We observed staff speak with people in a respectful manner and listen to their opinions and comments.

We found that care planning was person centred and agreed with the individual. Regular reviews were carried out and involved the individual at every stage.

Staff confirmed they were given the opportunity to build on their skills and received appropriate support from the registered manager and team leader.

The provider had quality assurance systems in place that ensured people were safe and changes could be made to improve the service provided.
