During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced, on-site inspection on 21 July 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

The practice is in Brixham and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice had car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people near the practice.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 22 staff, of which there were 6 dentists, 5 dental nurses, 2 trainee dental nurses, 1 dental therapist, 2 dental hygienists, 2 receptionists, 1 treatment coordinator, 1 marketing manager and 2 practice managers. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 dental hygienist, 1 receptionist, the Treatment coordinator, the marketing manager, and both practice managers.

The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people during our visit. Both were very satisfied with the service they received, describing it as "excellent". They said that they always received treatment of a high standard, and in a way that was relaxed and not rushed. People said staff explained their treatments in simple terms, so they could understand them. They said they gave consent for the treatments, and records confirmed this. Staff were knowledgeable about when written consent had to be obtained. They also had a good understanding of how to manage situations where there was doubt about a person's capacity to consent.

We saw that enough staff were employed to meet the commitments of the practice. Staff had received training appropriate to their role and were supervised in their work. Training included protecting adults from abuse and child protection. Systems were in place to identify and manage risks and to monitor and improve the quality of the service provided.

The practice was clean, tidy, well lit and furnished. We observed good hygiene and infection control procedures were in place.
