30 July 2013

During a routine inspection

This was an announced inspection of The Dental Practice. Our inspection was discussed and arranged in advance to ensure that we had time to see and speak to the providers and staff working at the practice, as well as people registered with the service. The Dental Practice provides wholly private dental treatment.

In this report the name of a registered manager appears who was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still a Registered Manager on our register at the time.

We spoke with three people who used the service, who had received treatment during our inspection. They told us, "This practice has been brilliant". Another person told us, "I've used this dentist since I was a teenager and wouldn't go anywhere else. I've recommended it to family and and friends".

We looked at how medication was stored and managed we found that that improvements were required in this area to ensure that medication was safe to use.

We saw the service had a system in place to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and hygiene for the premises and equipment.

Effective recruitment procedures were in place and checks were carried out to ensure that staff were suitable to work with people.

The provider monitored the quality of the service to ensure that it was safe and suitable to meet people's needs, and constantly improving and developing.
