Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 02 September to 10 September 2026. Chestnut Rise Nursing Home is a nursing home which provides personal care and nursing care to adults, some of whom were living with dementia or physical disabilities. Up to 21 people can reside at the service. At the time of our assessment 5 people were living at the service. We carried out a targeted assessment of the service, covering 6 quality statements. The service was previously in breach of the regulation in relation to fit and proper persons employed. At this assessment we found the service had implemented safeguards and was no longer in breach of this regulation. The service was not rated at this assessment.

There were sufficient levels of staff at the service to meet the needs of people who had appropriate training and supervision. Recruitment was completed safely with all appropriate checks taking place. Staff received training to support them to work safely. Staff told us they felt supported in their roles.

People and their relatives were involved in care planning and had the opportunity to ensure their preferences for care and support were recorded and followed. Plans were in place to build on this work and introduce increased meaningful activities at the service.

The service had recent changes in leadership and was in the process of adapting governance and auditing procedures. Care plans and risk assessments were reviewed regularly and supported people to be cared for safely. Some records in relation to governance needed improvement, the registered manager was in the process of improving systems at the service. These changes needed to be embedded and sustained to ensure accurate record keeping.
