During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who were using the service. They told us they were receiving a good service. They told us when staff spoke with them they were respectful and protected their confidentiality. They also told us they felt involved in decisions about their treatment.

The following are examples of some of the comments we received:

'I think it is a really good service.'

'It is good. Nine out of ten.'

'They always review our care.'

'I really feel involved in decisions.'

We found that people using the service felt their views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered. We also saw evidence that their needs were assessed when they began using the service and a treatment plan was put in place. This was then reviewed regularly.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

We found that people using the service were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard. Staff told us they felt supported in their role, although some did comment that they felt they could have received more training.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive. We saw examples of recent audits that had been undertaken to monitor the quality of service provided.

During a routine inspection

People who use the service told us that they felt they had sufficient information to be able to give informed consent to the treatment provided. We were also told that staff promoted the privacy and dignity of people using the service.

Each person using the service had an individual care plan that addressed a range of needs and included a risk assessment. The provider liaised with peoples GP about the care and treatment provided.

The provider responded appropriately where there were safeguarding concerns, and used a range of tools to monitor the quality of service that people received.

The provider had sound recruitment practises, and staff were appropriately supported and received regular training.
