During a routine inspection

Representatives of providers that used the service told us they were satisfied with the services provided by Intrim Medical and Rescue Services. One person told us 'the service is flexible and reliable and will provide cover at short notice; the staff are good at keeping us up-dated and informed of any issues. Another person told us 'the staff ensured that people were safely transferred to hospital.'

People felt that the service provides reliable and competent staff. The provider needs to put an effective recruitment procedure in place, to ensure that all relevant checks are obtained in regards to staff.

Staff members we spoke with felt that the service was well managed and provides high standards of care and treatment.

Procedures were in place to gain and review consent from people in regards to their care and treatment, including where a person was unable to make decisions and give consent.

People felt that importance was given to infection control and the cleanliness of the vehicles. We found that arrangements were in place to protect people from the risk of infections, and to ensure that the vehicles were clean, reliable and roadworthy.

Systems were in place to monitor the quality of services provided, and to identify and manage risks to people who use the service and others.
