People's right to privacy and dignity was respected at all times. Members of staff provided people who used the service with information in a way that they could understand. The home maximised people's privacy and dignity with the provision of appropriate private and communal sleeping, bathing and toilet facilities.

Support, care and treatment was provided to ensure that people who used the service received safe and appropriate, dignified, support, care and treatment. People indicated that they liked living at Waldersey House.

Checks and tests were carried out on a range of available equipment to ensure that Waldersey House was a safe place for people to live, work and visit.

People who used the service demonstrated that they liked members of staff.

Staff were supported and had training to do their job, which they enjoyed doing. Arrangements were in place to increase the numbers of staff attendance in additional and refresher training.

People said that they knew who to speak with if they were unhappy about something. There was a complaints system in place to respond to any concerns or complaints made against Waldersey House.

People we spoke with made positive comments about the standard of support, care, treament and service provided by the home. This was because the staff were kind, caring and knew how to meet their individual and specialist needs. One person summarised this, saying, "It's alright. Perfectly alright. There's nothing wrong with it."

We hadn't been able to speak to all of the people using the service, due to their lack of availability. We gathered evidence of people's experiences of the service by speaking to one of the people's parents and reviewed questionnaires completed by other people's relatives. We found that everyone was very satisfied with the standard of service, care and support provided by the home.

Although the home is situated in the countryside, the people we spoke with said that the provision of a private vehicle allowed trips out, including visits to the beach, historical buildings and shopping in neighbouring Cambridgeshire towns.
