All Inspections

24 October 2013

During a routine inspection

Care and support plans we reviewed provided detailed guidance to staff about the person's current needs and how to provide them with appropriate care and support. One person we spoke with told us, "They (the care assistants) always ask if there is anything else that needs doing" and that staff were, "Quite professional".

The provider carried out appropriate checks before staff began work, including enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks.

The provider had an effective system in place to ensure the quality of the service was monitored.

22 July 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We completed this follow up inspection to check that Insignia Healthcare Solutions (Kings Lynn) had acted on improvements that we said needed to be made after our inspection of 18 March 2013.

We reviewed three Medication Administration Records (MARs) and found that records were completed accurately to say whether a person had taken their medication or if they had refused their medication.

18 March 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection of 18 March 2013 we examined evidence which demonstrated to us that people's consent was obtained before any care and support was offered to them. People's continued consent to receive care and support was regularly checked with them.

Records examined showed that people were involved in the planning of their own care and support and that they received care according to their own personal needs.

People were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify abuse and prevent it from happening.

People were not protected from the risks associated with medicines because the provider did not have appropriate arrangements in place in relation to the recording of medicine.

Staff members we spoke with told us that they were supported to undergo training and obtain further qualifications which helped them to provide appropriate care and support to people.

There was an effective system in place to assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
