During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with six people who regularly used this provider's patient transport services and two of their relatives. People told us the transport staff always treated them with respect and kindness, and made sure they arrived home safely. For example, one patient said 'I think they provide an excellent service. I have used them a lot recently and the drivers have always been good to me'. Another patient told us "the ambulance crews are very friendly and they always make sure you get home alright'. During a tour of the arrival/discharge lounge we saw staff engaged with patients and their relatives who were waiting for transport in a very courteous and professional manner.

We looked at records kept by the service and found these contained detailed information about peoples mobility and transfer needs. We found guidance and instructions had been made available to staff on the prevention and control of infection and how to maintain the cleanliness of the ambulances. We checked equipment used by the service and saw this was regularly checked and maintained for safety. Staff received training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. There were systems in place to regularly monitor and assess the quality of service provided.
