During a routine inspection

People expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their treatment. We saw people had treatment plans in place which identified the treatment, the cost and they had signed their plans, consenting to receive the treatment they required. People we spoke with made positive comments regarding the service they received. One person said 'my dentist is brilliant. I am informed of everything and am told what each treatment is and the cost.' Another person said 'after I have seen the dentist they give a written letter telling me the cost of my treatment. Me and my husband have been coming to Fourways for several years now and we are very happy.'

We found that people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. There were arrangements in place to manage any potential risks related to sedation, which protected the safety of people using the service. Measures had been taken to reduce the risks of people receiving unsafe or inappropriate care.

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. There was a safeguarding policy in place for the protection of vulnerable children and adults.

The provider had taken steps to ensure there were effective operation systems to assess the risk and control the spread of health care associated infection. We found the practice was correctly following the latest guidance: 'The Health Technical Memorandum 01-05: Decontamination in primary dental care practices'.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service people received. We saw people had written positive comments on the surveys they had recently completed. These included 'I have found the dentists courteous and sympathetic at every visit,' 'extremely impressed and grateful,' and 'please don't change anything here.'
