Our view of the service
We carried out this announced off-site inspection on 14 August 2026.
Where we carry out an off-site inspection, we undertake a detailed review of the practice risk assessments, policies, staff records and other relevant documents. We gather feedback from patients, staff and stakeholders (where relevant). We carry out a remote visual inspection of the premises and have discussions with staff.
We found the practice had met regulations, although some areas for improvement were identified.
The practice had systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control, although some improvements should be made in relation to fire safety and Legionella.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles, although some improvements were needed in relation to the monitoring and oversight of training and development.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, and a culture of continuous improvement, however, some areas for improvement were identified to ensure protocols were consistently followed.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Glyn House Dental Partnership is part of BUPA Dental Care, a group provider. The practice is in Withington, Manchester and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
Due to the limitations of the building, the practice was not wheelchair accessible. Patients requiring accessible facilities were directed to a nearby sister practice. Car parking spaces were available near the practice, and the practice was located on a local bus route.
The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 27 staff. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists and 2 dental nurses. The Practice Manager was absent on the day of our inspection, and a covering Practice Manager was in post and available to support the inspection. One of the group’s Quality Improvement Leads was also at the practice supporting the team.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us.
We also reviewed comments collected by the practice and online reviews in the last 2 months.
Patient feedback provided a largely positive view of the care and service provided by the practice.
Patients praised the practice for its friendly and professional staff, saying “Amazing staff, friendly, understanding,” “Good dentist and very helpful staff,” and “The service is always excellent and extremely professional at this practice.”
The practice environment was also positively commented on by patients, who said “Staff is friendly, professional. Clinical rooms are clean and tidy,” and “Very friendly staff nice clean place.”
Patients commented positively on communication and quality of treatment, noting “The dentist took time to listen and examine my teeth properly,” “Excellent surgery and my dentist was brilliant, informative and clear about my treatment,” and “Explained everything clearly, and the extraction was much easier than I expected.”
Support for anxious patients was also reflected in patient feedback, with one patient saying “Hygiene staff were very patient and thorough. I normally hate these appointments, but they managed to get me to relax!” and another describing feeling “super relaxed from the outset” with everything “explained clearly.”
Patients also commented on the ease of access to care, “It is quite easy to book an appointment, the reception staff are friendly and helpful, the waiting area is clean and quiet,” and “Very quick and efficient service.”
A small number of comments raised concerns relating to appointment waiting times, treatment costs, waiting room capacity, appointment cancellations, and consistency of care where patients saw different dentists. We discussed this feedback with the practice, who told us they reviewed comments regularly and would take appropriate action where possible.
