Date of Assessment: 13 and 14 February 2025. Stonecross Care Centre is a care home providing care and support for up to 32 older people and who may be living with dementia. At the time of this assessment there were 29 people living there.
We assessed the quality statements from the key questions of safe and well-led. We found the provider had made sufficient improvements to show they were no longer in breach of regulations. Therefore, the overall rating for this service has improved from requires improvement to good. There were several areas of improvement seen across the 2 key questions since the last inspection. Actions had been taken and the service was seen to be safer, and the quality of the oversight systems and processes had improved. People were protected and kept safe. There were improved, more detailed care records capturing a variety of risks associated with care and treatment. Safer processes were used to oversee and manage equipment and the environment. There were enough staff who had received training and appraisals to support them in delivering safe care. Improvements had been made to the recruitment process with more robust checks of suitability happening. Staff involved people and those important to them in care planning and decisions were made in people’s best interests where they did not have mental capacity. People were treated with kindness and compassion. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way. There had been an implementation of a variety of improved audit tools. Processes used for the oversight of the safety and quality of the service had improved and were seen to be consistently completed. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and felt very supported by the manager. The manager worked well with the local community to deliver the best possible care and were receptive to ne ideas.
