During a routine inspection

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. The provider had in place a policy on consent and confidentiality. We spoke with four people on the day of our inspection. They all told us that their treatment was discussed with them.

During our inspection the people we spoke to told us "I wouldn't go anywhere else'; 'This service is unique as they have a laboratory attached to it and they can fix your dentures while you wait' and 'They are very good. I am delighted with this dentist.'

During our inspection the indentified infection control lead demonstrated the arrangements for decontamination and sterilisation of equipment from start to finish. We saw that the appropriate washers and sterilisation equipment was used and there were designated dirty and clean areas in use.

Staff received appropriate professional development. We saw evidence that the dentist and the dental nurse maintained their registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and were up to date with their continual professional development as required to maintain their GDC registration.

We viewed the complaints policy. This provided detail of timescales for responding to complaints and the various stages of investigation. At the time of our visit, the dental practice had not received any complaints and therefore we were unable to review any complaint records.
