During an assessment under our new approach

We undertook a follow-up inspection on 14 July 2025. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.

We had previously undertaken an announced inspection of Wimpole Dental Office on 31 January 2025. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of regulation 17 (Good governance) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met regulations.

Improvements had been made to how the practice assessed and mitigated the risks associated with fire, legionella, radiation, the use of hazardous substances, and general health and safety.

There were improved systems in place for governance, oversight and continuous improvement.

The practice is in Westminster and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available nearby.

The practice had 1 treatment room.During the inspection we spoke with the principal dentist and the external compliance consultant.

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 31 January 2025.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice did not have effective systems to manage risks. Improvements were needed to how the practice assessed and mitigated the risks associated with fire, legionella, radiation, the use of hazardous substances, and general health and safety.

There was ineffective leadership and a lack of a culture of continuous improvement.

Recruitment procedures broadly reflected current legislation. Improvements were needed to ensure the required recruitment documentation was requested at the point of employment from all members of staff, including those who were employed on a temporary basis.

Infection control procedures reflected published guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance
