All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 4 February 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Although recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, these were not always followed, and oversight should be improved.

The practice had not implemented systems to assess, monitor and manage risks to patient and staff safety. In particular, the management of fire safety, equipment and premises.

Infection control procedures in place were not effective.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.

The practice is in Bracknell and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms.

At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 6 staff, of which there were 2 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, 2 receptionists and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dental nurse, 1 dental hygienist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

The provider was not complying with 1 regulation, Regulation 17 Good governance.

Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

During a routine inspection

During our visit to Blueberry Dental Surgery we met with the registered manager and the practice manager. We spoke with four patients and two members of staff. We looked at five patient's records.

All of the patients we spoke with were very happy with the dental treatment they received. One patient told us 'I like the quality of his [the dentist's] work'. Another patient said 'The dentist explains what may be the problem and takes photos [so the patient could see]. He [the dentist] pointed out there were different options. I'm staggering the treatment for costs sake. I always know what the treatment plan is'. Another patient said 'it's excellent, the staff are very friendly'. We looked at patient records which confirmed the detailed examination, diagnosis and treatment that patients said they had received.

Patients we spoke with told us the practice was always clean and tidy; one said 'I've never felt it wasn't clean and hygienic'. The practice operated processes, and followed procedures, that minimised the risk and spread of infection because current guidelines were followed.

Staff told us they were supported to carry out their roles. We saw that staff received training specific to their job and that they received an annual review of their performance. A dental nurse said 'that was one of the reasons I wanted to work here because he [the dentist] is so keen on education'.

The practice had systems in place to seek and act on patient feedback and carried out audits to monitor clinical quality.
