During a routine inspection
The service employed 11 male staff and the majority were from an ambulance or police background. Due to the nature of the service we were not able to speak with people about their experience. However we saw copies of surveys completed by people and all were complimentary. One person said 'X and X make my day, lovely and thank you.'
We spoke with the provider (owner), two staff and one NHS manager who regularly used the service. All were very positive about the standard of care. The NHS manager said 'Everything is done to perfection. They will always be my first port of call.'
Staff were aware of their responsibilities towards the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. Risks associated with transporting people were assessed and restraint was used accordingly to maintain the safety of the person and the crew.
The ambulance vehicles were clean and adequately maintained. The provider took action on the day of the inspection to remove unused and out of date equipment in line with the regulated activity.
All the staff felt well supported. There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service and manage risk. There was effective management of records.
