During a routine inspection
We observed that patients were given a pleasant welcome and spoken to with politeness and respect by all members of staff. Many conversations were on a first name basis and we heard staff offer patients a range of times and dates for follow up appointments to suit them.
We spoke with 4 patients during the inspection. Comments included: 'I've been coming 2-3 years. My previous dentist retired and I came here came on a verbal recommendation'. And: 'I find it brilliant'.
We looked at records, which were a combination of paper and electronic records. We found them factual, and up to date. We saw that patients' medical history; treatment plans and personal preferences were regularly reviewed and updated.
We saw that policies and procedures were kept which were accessible to all staff. We saw that there was resuscitation and emergency equipment available which was regularly checked and in date.
We found a new purpose built decontamination room and processes were seen to be followed and hygiene procedures were adhered to by staff, to minimise the risk of cross infection.
We saw that patients comments and suggestions were taken seriously by the practice which had made improvements to the service delivered as a result.
